The problem
A founder had validated demand for a simple savings-and-payments wallet but needed to launch on both iOS and Android without the cost and timeline of two native apps. Budget was tight and speed mattered: investors wanted to see real usage.
The approach
We scoped ruthlessly to the core action — top up, hold a balance, and send money — and built it once in Flutter for both platforms:
- A single Flutter codebase targeting iOS and Android.
- Supabase for auth, the Postgres database, and secure storage.
- M-Pesa Daraja (STK push) for local top-ups, plus Stripe for card payments.
- Biometric login and transaction notifications for trust.
The stack
Flutter for the app, Supabase for the backend, M-Pesa Daraja and Stripe for payments.
The result
The MVP went from idea to both app stores in six weeks, on one codebase instead of two — roughly halving build and maintenance cost. The founder had a real, installable product to put in front of users and investors, with a clean foundation to build on.
